Let’s forget about 28-3

I dunno, coming back from a 17 point deficit isn’t really as impressive as coming back from 25 points

Good if you are from Georgia, but doesn’t do anything for the rest of us who just wanted to see the Patriots lose.

And they have the full second half to do it, not just 1 quarter.

But the patriots had a quarterback who had won 4(now 5) Super Bowls. The dawgs had a quarterback who wasn’t even born when Georgia last won the national championship. Fromm was the first freshman starting quarterback to win the rose bowl. That’s quite impressive

Nah, Superb Owl was worse. They blew a 25-point lead in what felt like thirty-seven seconds and then rolled over in overtime.

Very true, it was a hell of a performance, especially from a rookie. But it’s still two touchdowns and a field goal versus three touchdowns, a two point conversion, and a field goal.
Also, I’m of the opinion that talking about it being “x” years since a team won suchandsuch doesn’t mean that much in college football (at least not compared to professional sports) since after five years tops every player in the entire NCAA is different. Yes, good players are attracted to schools with good records, but with the constant mandated coming and going it’s easier to rise and fall and harder to create a dynasty. Take any championship winning team, move them forwards or backwards two years and there’s high odds they would have had a very different season.
Now excuse me while I go yell at some clouds.

As a University of Wisconsin alum who still lives in Madison, it’s like I’m contractually obligated to pay attention to Wisconsin football, but I don’t, because I can’t be bothered to pay attention to any college football.
Saturday night, I was at the gym finishing up my workout as the Orange Bowl was getting ready to start. It was deserted. The wall in front of the cardio machines has a bunch of TVs that are all too often on news channels. As long as nobody’s watching a particular TV, if it’s on news when I get ready to do cardio, I change it to something else like Food Network, HGTV or Velocity.
So I was doing my usual changing of channels, and ESPN said it was 20 minutes to kickoff in the Orange Bowl, and I didn’t feel like having the tv in front of my elliptical on ESPN showing the teams doing the warmups and whatever other pregame bullshit they were going to show for the majority of my 30 minute cardio session, so I put it on Food Network and put the TVs next to me on ESPN.
Then this lady who’s another regular at my gym came in and asked me, while I was elliptical-ing, and ESPN was on a commercial break, which TVs were on the game. I told her which ones, she asked if she could switch a couple more, I said sure, and hey since it’s going to kick off soon you can switch mine too, I just didn’t want to watch the pregame stuff. Then she went to get ready before coming back shortly after kickoff where the Badgers fumbled the ball like 2 plays into their opening drive. She decided she wanted to have a Football Conversation about this, talking about the Badgers’ apparent propensity for committing turnovers that I didn’t really know about because I don’t pay attention to college football.
Even in a normal situation I wouldn’t have much to say about this, but I was about 2/3 of the way through a half hour of level 14 on the interval program, and dying, so I don’t even remember what I responded other than something like, “YEAH THEY DO THAT” and then putting my headphones back in. I wasn’t trying to blow her off but I was totally incapable of having a Football Conversation in that moment.
When I went home, my wife wanted to watch Love Actually, which I agreed to, because I don’t give a shit about college football, even Wisconsin playing in the Orange Bowl. Except since my wife was sick we chilled and ate dinner and I forget what if anything we watched until she went upstairs to rest and I put on the second half of the Orange Bowl.
Wisconsin won. My facebook friends who actually care about such things were very excited. I was mildly fulfilled, at best.

I’m no SEC fan, but I do love seeing that QB from Oklahoma lose. My hope is that he will be drafted by the Browns, b/c that would make me giggle for the next 0-16 season.

He’s such a douche, I hope he fails miserably in the NFL - basically becoming Johnny Manziel 2.0.

Don’t worry. I’m sure no one on Oppo will share your secret hopes and dreams.
